Note that Alaska is stupidly tough for a ship with a Cruiser icon in a BB-heavy environment. It's too dangerous for Normal Cruisers there. I wonder about Rupprecht with her mega secondaries, long range torpedoes, and gimmicked Battlecruiser gun accuracy, coupled with 16" guns.
Not only is JB faster reloading, she has MBRB to back it up, so if you make a mistake, a JB player will hammer you with MBRB. Alsace has even worse accuracy and her reload is longer than 30 seconds, the price she pays for having 12 guns. Richelieu has bad accuracy and average reload. In addition, Jean Bart has 2 things that her tech tree relatives VIII Richelieu and IX Alsace don't have: Great reload and good accuracy. Jean Bart has mere 380mm guns, very small for Tier IX, but the French 380mm AP shells have very strong kick to them. Musashi brings 460mm guns with heavy Overmatch advantages, even against Battleships. Note in my comment that the Tech Tree BBs did nothing at all like the Premiums Musashi, Jean Bart, etc. Tier IX is an extremely dangerous place for Normal Cruisers because of certain Premium Battleships there. I like a lot of tier 9 cruisers, but none of them can compare. For every Riga I brought for my team, the enemy team had an Alaska. Yea, I was trying to play Riga in Silver and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was hurting my team by bringing it. Now I am sure players will adamantly refuse to pay. But It will be harder at tier 9 to play these events tailored to tier 9.
On the other hand, they want to play certain game modes and not have to use premium ships.īut this is a decision of the player about what is good for them. On one hand, players will insist on not spending a dime on ships. If you are fairly new to the game, then you would never have the opportunity to get these premiums. The issue is that these ships were poorly balanced and because of the old "don't nerf premiums is at all possible" way WG operated, and continues to grandfather in for premiums older than Hyuga, the ships were removed from easy access and new players essentially don't have the ability to obtain them.
There were ways to spend money to get them, but I would bet the vast majority that you see were obtained for free.
